Dún Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club (DMYC) is delighted to offer a unique opportunity to sail Slipstream 14/125, a much-loved boat formerly owned and raced by the late Julie Ascoop. We would love to see her back on the water and racing regularly in the DMYC Frostbite Series this winter.
For the 2025/26 Frostbite season (Sunday racing from November to March), DMYC is putting together a special, low-cost package for sailors who would like to campaign IDRA 14/125.
While final details are still being confirmed, the offer is expected to include:
Use of IDRA 14 No. 125 for the Frostbite season
Boat parking at DMYC
Honorary DMYC membership on race days
Entry into the Frostbite Series
Insurance cover
In return, sailors will pay a small seasonal fee, commit to racing regularly, and help look after the boat, treating her as if she were their own.
We’re particularly keen to hear from:
Young sailors who aren’t yet in a position to own their own boat
Women sailors (ideally at least one woman involved in the team)
Sailors who may be interested in becoming future DMYC members
That said, we’re open-minded and would love to hear from anyone enthusiastic and committed, even if you don’t tick every box.
The boat could be sailed by:
A regular pair, or
A small group (3–6 people) who organise helming and crewing between themselves
Helms should be competent racers, but crew experience doesn’t need to be high—this is a great chance to learn, improve, and race through the winter in a fun, supportive environment.
If this sounds like something you’d love to be part of, or if you know someone who might, we’d love to hear from you. We’re also very open to suggestions on where best to share this opportunity to reach the right sailors.
