The IDRA 14 class is passionate about supporting young sailors. Our youth programmes offer exciting pathways to learn, race, and develop skills in a friendly, supportive environment ensuring the future of our class is in great hands.
Build sailing skills: Practical hands-on experience on a classic performance dinghy.
Create community: Young sailors become part of a welcoming fleet and make lasting friendships.
Encourage competition: Regular racing opportunities help develop racecraft and confidence.
Promote leadership and responsibility: Youth crews learn maintenance, teamwork, and boat care.

DMYC is offering a unique, low-cost opportunity for sailors to race IDRA 14 No. 125 in the 2025/26 Frostbite Series (November–March). We’re looking for enthusiastic sailors, especially young sailors and women, who’d like regular winter racing without the cost of boat ownership. The package is expected to include use of the boat, race entry, parking, and insurance.
Interested?
Following the huge success of the Swift Youth Programme, the SDC fleet is now exploring a similar initiative. We’re keen to hear from young sailors who would be interested in getting involved, whether as helms, crews, or part of a shared-boat setup.
If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, please contact the SDC Class Representative for more details.
Whether you’re a young sailor looking to join, a parent interested in supporting someone’s sailing journey, or a club keen to collaborate on youth initiatives, we’d love to hear from you.
